Pinnacle Rock State Park is a very small state park right along route 52 in West Virginia between the towns of Bluewell and Bramwell. It main feature is its namesake; the towering rock formation. There is a lovely stone picnic pavilion as well as picnic tables. A short trail leads up to the top of Pinnacle Rock where there is a small wooden observation deck from which you get a nice view of the surrounding mountains. This is a 2-generation letterbox hidden by myself (Gaiagal) and my 12 year old daughter (Artemus). There is no entrance fee. Check out the park's website at http://www.pinnaclerockstatepark.com/ for details. Here are the clues to the box we hid there:

 Start at the stone picnic pavilion and look for the trail sign that says "Overlook". The trail is initially paved and heads back toward the road.
 Before the paved trail intersects the road, veer to the right onto the path at the sign that says "Overlook. Rock climbing prohibited except by permit."
 The path immediately heads uphill into the trees, up stones laid into the path like stairs.
 Keep climbing up until you see the wooden observation deck at the top.
 Stop before climbing onto the platform
 Stand on the ground about 2 feet in front of the steps and face the steps.
 To your left there will be the first post that supports the deck.
 From this position look to your right.
 There is a large rock/boulder (about 5 feet long and about 2 1/2 feet high) leaning against a chestnut oak tree (about 10 inches in diameter)
 The box is hidden in the crevice between the bottom of the rock/boulder and the ground. Use caution when reaching into the crevice.
 We wedged a loose rock in the largest part of the opening between the rock/boulder and the ground to conceal the box. Please be sure to return this rock after you return the box to its hiding place and be sure to slide the box as far back into the opening as possible. You may also want to cover any remaining open areas with sticks so that the box can't be seen from above.
 BEWARE OF POSION IVY, STEEP HILL, ROLLING STONES, CLIFFS AT THE TOP AND THE POSSIBILITY OF SNAKES OR OTHER ANIMLAS
 PLEASE READ THE DISCLAIMER BEFORE PROCEEDING.

Happy hunting!
Gaiagal and Artemus
