Trail difficulty: fairly easy, a short scramble up a rocky slope.
Walk distance: very short
Stamp hand-carved.
Status: alive and well on April 2, 2016

From the junction of State Highway 127 and State Highway 178 just north of Shoshone, drive west on Hwy. 178 for about 2.5 miles, going past the 2000 ft. elevation sign, to 2 dirt roads on the left (south). Turn off the highway and park on one of them

Look for the large square wooden post between the 2 roads. From it, walk at about 110 degrees (from mag. north) for about 16 steps up slope to a boulder. The box is behind the boulder under some rocks.

Please please be sure the contents are double ziplocked when you put them back in the box (i.e. the stamp is in a ziploc, the book is in a ziploc, and the two are in the larger ziploc bag) and put all of it INSIDE the box. Please rehide the box well under the rocks and covered with some plant debris so that it can not be seen from any direction.
