Location: Park south of Austin that opened in 1976 and is named for one of Austin’s early colonists. Entrance fee required.
Distance: Minimum of 2.5 miles, could be more depending on where you start.
Terrain: Fairly level dirt trail.
There are a lot of things you shouldn't mess with in Texas, and one of them is crude oil. To see just how CRUDE some of this oil can be, take a hike on the tnilF kcoR trail. When you arrive at the 1 mile marker, take 30 steps further along the trail. Then take 15 steps on a bearing of 250° to find the crude oil gushing from the ground where 2 fallen logs cross each other.
We live a far way from Texas, so I’d appreciate an email to let me know if you struck oil. Thanks!
