An easy drive by in an interesting area

Hand carved stamp
From the I-19 Canoa exit travel south on East Frontage Rd. to Elephant Head Rd. Follow Elephant road and turn right at the intersection of Elephant Head and Mt. Hopkins/Whipple road toward the observatory. Travel about 3.5 miles to Amado/Montosa Rd. on the right. Turn right and at about 100 feet, just as the road begins to make a bend you will see an opening which leads to what looks to be a primitive camping area. Park about 20 feet from the opening and you will see a gnarled two trunked tree with a big rock to the right. Find the box under rocks at the base of the tree and you will see what the other side of Elephant Head looks like. Check with LbNA and Atlas Quest for other boxes in the area.
Replaced the missing box on 1/28/2018. Let us know the condition.
