New location 02/14/2016.
Less than a mile round trip.

To the box: This box is in Tucson Mountain Park a little west of Tucson. From I-10, take exit 257. Drive west on Speedway Blvd. (which changes its name to Gates Pass Rd.) and over Gates Pass to the intersection with Kinney Road. Turn right on Kinney Road and drive past the Desert Museum to the intersection with McCain Loop Road (this is the 2nd or western intersection with McCain Loop Rd.). Just past the intersection turn into the parking area on the left. There are a couple of large signs with Tucson Mountain Park information at the SE edge of the parking pull-out.

Owl: From back side of the tan Tucson Mountain Park sign, stand at the NE edge of the backside of the sign, sight at 122 degrees to single-armed saguaro with the tip of an arm pointing W, (base of arm is actually looping from east side of saguaro - you can't see that until you are at the saguaro). Walk to that saguaro, approximately 100 steps away, crossing a small wash. (Steps appox!). From north side of the saguaro, sight at 250 degrees to low, dark boulders, just beyond SW edge of medium sized Palo Verde. Walk 25 steps to split boulder, box in between boulders under small rock.

Vulture: From the west edge of the split boulders sight at 160 degrees uphill, behind large prickly pear, to a prone tree skeleton, approximately 20 steps away. From root end of prone tree skeleton go at 118 degrees for 26 steps - uphill, passing darker boulder to the right. The box is on the NE edge of single boulder between the boulder and a Brittle Bush, small shrub, under a couple of small rocks.

Be sure to check out the birds of prey exhibit at the Arizona Desert Museum if you haven't already.
