MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM THE DOMEDREAMERS!

Once again we have made a letterbox with the stamp we used to make our Christmas cards. As usual, the box is temporary, available only from Christmas eve until Epiphany. If you try to find it in July, it will not be there!

The box that makes up our Christmas card this year is hidden at Center Springs Park in Manchester. There are two places you can park to find the box; neither is a drive-up, but it’s not a long or difficult hike (though there are stairs to be navigated if you park at Lincoln Center, and if it snows they will not be cleared).

Option #1: Park at Lincoln Center on Main Street in Manchester. The sign will tell you it is an access point for Center Springs Park. Go down the stairs at the corner of the lot and follow the path to a t intersection. Go left on the paved path. There are a number of rather large trees right next to the path on the right side as you walk along. And then there are not for a while, but instead you will see a smaller tree a little bit away from the path (still on the right) that when we hid the box still had a lot of brown leaves (beech? I don’t know). Right next to it is a tiny pine tree. At this point you want to leave the path and head toward the river. Don’t go over the cliff! When you get to the edge of the cliff there should be a path to your right going down to the river. Go down the path, but stay close to the cliff face and walk until you see a pipe sticking out of the bank. As you are facing this pipe, to the right you will see a tree root that runs parallel to the ground. In the space underneath it, hidden by some rocks, is the box.

When you’re done you can go up to the path again and return the way you came, or take a nice, short walk around the park, as the trail makes a loop. Or, if there’s snow, go sledding on the extremely dangerous sledding hill.

Option #2: Park by the lodge in the park’s parking lot on Lodge Drive. Pass the green gate at the end of the lot, and make your way over the little bridge you will see to your right. Then… figure it out from the directions above, even though you are walking in the opposite direction. Worst case scenario is you get to where the path leads to the stairs and turn around. It’s a short walk anyway, and you’re smart, you’ll figure it out.

If you search for the box on Christmas day you might run into the Domedreamers, as we will be walking there with family.

Have fun, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year!
