This letterbox is placed along old U. S. Highway 466. Route 466 was a major two-lane highway and existed as a designated U. S. highway number from 1935 to 1971. The route ran west from Kingman, AZ,, through Las Vegas, NV, Yermo, Mojave, Tehachapi, Bakersfield and terminated at Morro Bay.

From I-15, take exit 196 and go south on E. Yermo Road for a short distance to a T-intersection. Turn left on Yermo Road. This is old U. S. Highway 466. Drive for about 3/10 mile to the ruins of the old California Agricultural Inspection Station on the left. Park by the most westerly group of Tamarisk trees.

Walk to power pole 30384-CIT. Go to the tree just north of the pole. The box is on the north side of the tree under the outer edge of the tree canopy under a flat chunk of asphalt pavement covered with some plant debris. Be very alert for snakes.

Please please be sure the contents are double ziplocked when you put them back in the box (i.e. the stamp is in a ziploc, the book is in a ziploc, and the two are in the larger ziploc bag). Please put the lid on tight with clean surfaces. Please rehide the box well under the flat chunk and covered with some plant debris so that it can not be seen from any direction.

Contact me if the box needs attention:
