This letterbox is part of “The Great Atlas Quest Letterbox Exchange 2010 (GAQLBE10).”
The stamp and log book were created by Aiphid from Maine and sent here to New Mexico and in return Aspen carved a stamp and sent it to Maine where it was planted.
To Find the Box: Find your way to the Four Corners City of Farmington, New Mexico. Find Main Street and go to the Intersection of Main and Browning Parkway (there is a Chevron station at this intersection). Turn South on Browning Pkwy (516). The first road on the right (west) after crossing the bridge is Burnham Rd. turn right. This road leads into Animas Park and the Riverside Nature Center. Turn right again where there is large parking area where you can park , but if you go to the left where the road Ys off toward the red barn there is a smaller parking area closer to the Riverside Nature Center. The yellow gates are where you have to go on foot from. Follow the path to the Nature Center, go toward the front doors, but pass them and go around the building to the west side. There is a path that leads from this side of the building and heads north. Follow this path until it comes to a T. Take a right here and go approx 75 steps from the sign at this T. Look for a utility pole just off the path on the right (to the south). "Maine" is at the base under a spor.
After your find, there is a small pier a little further ahead where you can watch and feed the wild life. Enjoy your hike and please carry out more trash than you carry in!
The NATURE CENTER IS IN ANIMAS PARK and you can find it from inside the park if you don't want to drive around to this parking area. (See:http://fmtn.org/riversidenaturecenter)
