This letterbox is dedicated to Helmut Fischer, aka as "Monaco Franze, der ewige Stenz" (eternal dandy). In one of Bavaria's most original TV shows, Fischer plays the 50-year-old Munich early-retired police detective and man-about-town Franz Münchinger. He is called "Monaco Franze" after the Italian name of Munich, Bavaria.
The show is mainly set in Schwabing, filmed in and around Munich's most quaint and popular restaurants, cafes and neighborhoods. Because Helmut Fischer used to frequent Cafe Muenchner Freiheit on a regular basis, I planted the box near his statue there. On Fischer's favorite spot in the garden of café Münchner Freiheit in Schwabing, a bronze monument by Nicolai Tregor Jr. was revealed which depicts Fischer in his famous role as Monaco Franze. Dedicated to him after his all too early death in 1997, the bigger-than life statue reminds pedestrians and coffee house visitors of Fischer's role as spectator and observer in public places. He especially liked to watch the opposite sex (!)

CLUE:
If you arrive by subway (U3 or U6) make sure you exit toward the shopping area, Feilitzstrasse, northbound in direction "Cafe Muenchner Freiheit". Make your way up to the level where you buy subway tickets and shopping level. Exit (stadtauswärts) through the long walkway toward the Cafe, walk past a number of underground stores, up the ramp to a plateau. This plateau is one level lower than street level. So if you don't arrive by subway, but came on foot or by car - (how on earth did you find a parking spot??) you have to walk down a few steps from street level, near Cafe Münchner Freiheit/Leopold Strasse. A flower shop should be on your right, in summer water is cascading down on the left. You should find yourself in a cobble stone area and are now out in the open. On your right, spot 4 white metal seats, attached to a wall. Left of these "chairs"/seats, two walls meet. Go to this corner and reach under an ever-green shrub directly on your right. The box should be in a plastic bag, right in the corner where the walls meet. Please be as stealthy as you can and rehide well.

Once you stamped in, you might need someone to translate what you found. Not to worry! We Bavarians like to assist you foreigners whenever we can.
The Google Maps Clue is not correct. Cafe Münchner Freiheit is in Schwabing, between Marschallstrasse and Hesseloherstrasse close to Markstrasse on Leopoldstrasse. I hope you find it
