Love in LaGrange
This letterbox was planted in honor of my parents 51st Wedding Anniversary. Their ceremony and reception took place at the First United Methodist Church in my mother’s hometown of LaGrange, Indiana on August 4, 1963.
Growing up, she and my father brought my brothers and me to LaGrange every summer from our home in NY. A trip we looked forward to every year and look back on with the fondest of memories. This year I started a new tradition with my own family, travelling to Indiana for the Cline Family Reunion from our home in CT. My parents joined us from NY and followed these clues to the first letterbox we have ever planted!! I hope you enjoy finding this letterbox and walking through our Family History of Love in LaGrange.
Clues: Park on W. Spring Street near the Court House. Take notice of the beautiful brick road and the lovely mural painted on the building at the corner of W. Spring and Detroit. Walk to the Canon in front of the Court House. While facing the Court House, walk approx 40 steps to the Roll of Honor to the right of the Canon. There you will find “Cline Ronald L”, my mother’s nephew, among the many citizens of LaGrange County who served our Country. Now, walk to the Roll of Honor to the left of the Canon, there you will find two of my mother’s brothers, “Cline Claud, Jr.” and “Cline Donald G” among the many citizens of LaGrange Country who served our Country during WWII. Please take a moment to honor and appreciate all who serve and have served our great Nation. Now, walk approx. 95 steps towards the Horse and Buggy Parking Post. If you are lucky enough to see any horses parked, please pay them a visit and give them a special hello from CT! From the parking post, cross the brick road. Watch your step. Continue on the sidewalk towards the Carnegie Public Library, which will be on your left. Follow approx. 100 steps past the Library to the last entrance of the First United Methodist Church on W. Spring Street. Admire the beautiful stained glass above the door of the Church. You will find what you are looking for under an evergreen between Stained Glass windows.
As always, please be discreet and respectful, re-seal and re-hide well, and leave a message regarding your experience. We had a great time planting this stamp for you to find!!! May your heart be filled with Love and your belly filled with Cake! God Bless LaGrange and God Bless the USA! Special thanks to Anita at the First United Methodist Church for allowing us to plant this letterbox. Anita - I hope this opens you up to the exciting world of Letterboxing!
