Getting there: Traveling on US-2, go North on M-149 (blinking light in Thompson).
Note: there currently is construction on M-149, and the road says closed, local traffic only. You are able to go to the location. The construction is at the bridge located after the hatchery.

This stamp was given to me by Poof for my birthday this year. She found it on her adventures in the U.P. at one of the thrift stores either in Escanaba or Munising. It is on a lino block and is a little hard to get a good image. I stood on it and did a decent job. In retrospect, it may have been easier to lay the image face-up and press your paper down on the image.

Founded in 1928, the hatchery produces about 1.4 million chinook salmon, steelhead, brown trout, and rainbow trout for Michigan's waters. There is a nice self-guided tour you can do all around the property, with interpretive exhibits and interactive displays. Hours: daily 7:30 am-3:30 pm

Clues: Park in the lot and make your way to the gazebo. Then begin to follow the yellow fish road, starting with the exhibit in the main building. After checking out the info inside, exit where you entered and continue on the yellow fish road, passing the gas station and the fish runs. When the yellow fish road turns to gravel, continue following the blacktop, From the end of the blacktop, count 142 steps following the two-track road to the right. As you walk, you will pass birch trees on your left, and at the end of 142, there will be a spruce on your left. The box is hidden under the branches under a rock. Please rehide as well as you found it or better. Walk back to the gravel path and finish your tour of the hatchery. Hope you enjoy it!
