Kenpo Karate represents so much of what is good in my life. After more than 10 years, the people I have met, the knowledge I have gained, and the skills I have learned have made me a stronger and more dynamic person.

Every school has a logo that represents certain elements of martial arts. This stamp isn’t 100%, but it’s pretty close to the dojo logo for Al Lima's Studio of Self-Defense.

Shihan Al Lima, our master instructor, has been training in martial arts since he was 15. He trained U.S. Marines in hand-to-hand combat for many years. He opened his first school in 1980 and currently holds the degree of Shichidan (7th degree black belt). He is a member of the International Independent Martial Artist’s Association, a Black Belt Hall Of Fame member of the World Martial Arts Federation and in 2006 was selected Kenpo Master Instructor Of The Year.

In 2013, Shihan Al Lima celebrated his 40th anniversary of martial arts training and announced his intention to begin the process of handing his legacy down to his successor, Sensei Jim Villemaire.

I carved this stamp in honor of my dojo, Shihan, and all the wonderful instructors and students who have enriched my life these past 10 years.

To find Al Lima's Studio of Self Defense Letterbox, you'll have to go into Hudson, to the place where our dojo used to be, before we moved to a new location. Find Merrifield Park on Ferry Rd (which turns into Burnham Rd) in Hudson. Pull into the dirt lot and take a look around. The building to the right is where our dojo used to be. I think it's a dog grooming place now. Go to the back of the playground. The long yellow slide points to a path into the woods. It has the potential to be muddy. Follow the path and bear right. At the fork, go left (though both go to the same place,) and the path curves with the pond (Otternic Pond) and then back towards the road. You'll see the back side of the building coming up on your right. On the left, there are the remnants of an old car. Black scrap metal in the woods. A slender pine tree is growing up in the middle of the car scraps. Behind the tree, tucked under a piece of car is the box. Please re-hide well. To back to your car, simply return from whence you came.
