This box was original available at JICO 2014, LaPine State Park.
It was moved to this location during our travels in Oregon.
I did not see a Western Bluebird while planting this, but based on range maps you might see this particular species during the summer season.
Driving Directions.
On I-5 near the Oregon-California border an old section of US 99 is accessible at 3 exits. All will take you off, and bring you back to I-5 easily.
At Exit 6 off I-5 follow Old Hwy 99 south for 1.6 miles. Park in the large, paved pullout on the right (SW) side of the road. Enjoy the view of Mt. Shasta to the south
Walk difficulty: easy
Distance: 0.1 mi.
Stamp: hand-carved
Status: Alive and well on Feb 28, 2015
Clues:
Look across the road (north) to a metal post. From that post walk left over the dirt berm at 30 degrees for 12 steps. The box is hidden behind a large, gray angular rock. It is between a gray and tan rock, guarded by a sagebrush.
Please be sure the contents are double-zip locked when you put them back in the box (ie- the stamp is in a ziplock, the book is in a ziplock, and the two are in the larger ziplock bag). Please put the lid on tight. Please reside the box well, just as you found it or better! Make sure it cannot be seen from any direction.
