Hi! Welcome to our first letterbox. We have been coming to Petoskey for 4 years. We are a camping group that when put together has 8 kids that play, ride, hike and swim the days away.
To find our letterbox is quite easy. Find the Portage Trail marker nearest the Tannery Creek bathrooms. Take the path about 72 paces, beware the roots and stumps.
At the end of 72 paces you will be at the top of the first hill of your quest. At the bottom of the hill is a trail marker. Stay straight , do not waiver in your path. Up the 2nd hill and down into the valley.
Here is where you must pay attention. Look left as you walk to find the old woodpecker tree. When you see the tree stop and turn left off the trail. Take approximately 17 steps to the back of the tree. Hidden well, under leaves and bark you will find a place for FamilyMemories to be recorded.
