Status: alive
STS-107 was the final flight of Space Shuttle Columbia which disintegrated over Texas during reentry on February 1, 2003, killing all 7 crew members. The commander was Rick Husband, who was born and raised in Amarillo and became an astronaut in 1995. He flew as pilot on STS-96 in 1999, and logged 235 hours and 13 minutes in space. He is buried in his home town at Llano Cemetery, where this box can be found.
Directions:
From I40 go south on S Arthur Street for about 1 mile then right on SE 27th Ave for 0.2 mile to Llano Cemetery on left. Go through entrance and make your way to far southwest corner of cemetery at section 2B and park by curve in road.
Clues:
Walk south toward back fence and find the grave of Rick Husband. Continue toward fence from his grave for 12 steps to just past stone saying Rogers. Go right 10 steps to a 3-trunk tree on left near the fence. Minibox is within trunks under leaves and sticks.
