This stamp was drawn for us by our 13 year old Granddaughter, the magnificent Madz! She used a drawing method called 'zen tangle' that she learned about in art class.
There are 2 ways to get this box.
By car, find the cobblestone Sessions School on Riverside Drive west of Ionia, MI.
Sessions School, built in 1847, is the oldest known cobblestone school still standing in the state of Michigan. Check it out while you are here. You can pull into the Dog Trials parking lot just west of the school and safely park off the road to read about and look over the old school.
After checking out the school, go back east to the mountain bike parking lot on the north side of the road and park your car. Find the trail that heads west from the north end of the lot and take a short stroll. Pass the monument to those patients of the old Ionia County Infirmary who died and were buried here. After reading about them continue on west until the trail turns north. There you will find six large rocks just west of the curve in the trail. Look on the west side, between the rocks to find what you seek.
If you were diligent in you preparation for this trip, you would know about a pair of dragons who lurk very near this spot, so don't surprise them and get burned!
By bike, head west from Ionia on the Grand River Valley Rail Trail to marker 128 (there is a steel sign, as well as a concrete marker denoting 128). Just west of this marker a narrow gravel road crosses the Rail Trail. Head south on that gravel road to the top of the hill. On the west just before the curve you will see six large rocks, go around behind them and look between the rocks to find what you seek.
As mentioned above, you are very close the the lairs of two dragons who have resided here since 2008 and would like to live forever. Do your homework before you begin your journey, if you want to find them.
This box is hard to snap shut but if you line it up correctly and press a little hard it snaps.
Thanks for taking care to shut it well.
There's no pen or ink in these boxes, so please bring your own.
Please be stealthy and rehide very carefully. Rehide-ation is an art form!!
