This trail is off of Front Street in Merrimack. You will need to drive past the brown garden style condominiums on your left and take your next right--you will see a green Tree Farm sign as you turn in~
1. Walk Straight onto dirt road and follow.
2.Continue to walk straight, on your right will be large cement tubes--keep walking straight past these.
3.Keep walking straight on the path until you see the large sand pit on the left. You will merge to the right and follow that path.
4.You will see telephone poles on your left ....continue to follow the dirt path that will turn to the left.
5.On the right you will see a small dirt path that leads down a fielded hill. Turn down this path and follow.
6. This path will turn to the left and will run parallel to train tracks that you will be able to see from time to time along the right of you.
7. You will come to a clearing and will need to take a right. This right will cross the train tracks to a wooded area.
8. Continue on straight through to the Merrimack river. There will be a trail to the right that runs right next to the river and is framed by the trees. Turn down this trail.
9.This trail along the river will curve like a U towards the left. Continue to follow. It is a nice walk back through the woods. Keep an eye out for the largest and oldest tree of the forest, which I've affectionately named "King Tree." It will be on your right, set back from the trail.
10.On the left, across from the tree you might see a patch of grass that is shaped like a half circle. fyi
11. Once you've located "King Tree" you will notice a very dark, shadowed part at the base of the tree. It is in this area where you will find what you are looking for.
11. Please recover for others to find:)
