This letterbox is part of the GO and Experiment! program. It will be available from June 1, 2014 - August 17, 2014. Further details about the program may be found at www.goyork.org.
Through the GO and Experiment! program, you will be searching for "scientific terms" – wooden posts with engraved plates on them – instead of a traditional letterbox and stamp. Please carefully rub the impression from the engraved plate into your GO and Experiment! rubbing page, available at any York County library.
The letterbox is located in the Villeage of Muddy Creek Forks. GO York level of difficulty = Easy
Start on the front steps of the “Ma & Pa Railroad Heritage Village” building in the Village of Muddy Creek Forks.
Carefully walk across the road near the railroad crossing and walk along the grass past the “Yard Limit” sign. (Please do not walk on the railroad tracks at any time!)
Continue alongside the tracks past the red barn on the left.
When you reach the small stream, bear right and walk along the edge of the trees. Do not cross the stream.
As you continue on, you will notice a white building on the other side of the stream on your left. When your path is even with this building, stop and turn to the right.
Across the field you should notice a tall tree. Walk to this tree and locate the post nearby.
Return to your vehicle by walking back across the field.
