TEMPORARILY MISSING as of 2/9/2004! We hope to return this in the fall of 2007!
The "Old One" Letterbox
Before you start...
You may need to do a little "Googling" first to figure out the general starting site. The city, plus a clue from the second stanza, should do the trick.
This tends to be a high traffic area, so be sneaky as you remove and replace the box!
This box is fine for families with children. Even baby strollers can manage well and no one will get overly tired finding this box.
Allow plenty of time to visit some of the many interesting sights nearby. The subject of the stamp has a great tour and rotating exhibits. For those of you who can't travel to Baton Rouge, there's an online tour as well - you can Google it once you figure out the site.
The "Old One"
Which side to start?
That's the easy part!
It's the view that Twain had
When he called the place "bad."
With the fence gate in sight,
Turn hard to your right.
Then walk down the hill
On the sidewalk until
There's spray on your left.
You'd better be deft
Or you'll get mighty wet.
It would be a good bet
To keep near the fence.
Yes, that makes most sense
As you go up a "mountain"
To a much smaller fountain.
Then down steps of four
(There's not too much more)
Another right turn
Then look for a fern,
Or something else green
That hides what's unseen.
Happy hunting!
