Located at ELIASON NATURE RESERVE. BASIC parking at 9246 Portage Industrial Drive. (Sorry, I forgot my compass today, have to rely on landmarks.)

In 2011, 123 acres were donated to the city of Portage by the David J. Eliason family, for whom the site is named. The site is special in that it is an unusual 'relict bog' with uplands and wetlands. Less busy than the other Portage trails, you hear a lot of birds and it's a lovely relaxing walk.

From the parking lot, walk West, no driving! May The Force Be With You as you curve around it, looking ahead to see a sea lion and a lobster. As you near the end of ashphalt, tentacles reach out to you. No pedalin' now, check out the Woodpecker tree as you curve left. Watch your stump! I mean, mind your step! (Eventually this will be paved) Pass two sections of fence on the right and a blank wooden post on left. At the four-trunker on the right, take 10 steps then slowly turn around to the right to peer into the gaping maw of ... a big mouth bass(?) The compass would have been helpful here...
You will find Ellie, the Eliason Elephant hiding in the back side of the hollow log.

As always, mind the Muggles, re-seal and re-hide well and write back!! :)
