Missing 6-23-14. Will try to replace soon.
Directions: Go to Genesys Athletic Club at 801 Health Park Blvd., Grand Blanc. The club is located off of North Holly Road and I-75 at Genesys Health Park. If you park on the north-east side of the parking lot, there are stairs to take you to the trailhead. There are also sidewalks that you can take to the trailhead.
This letterbox is easy. The trail is mostly paved with a few portions being wood plank. It is easily accessible. Caution: the trail may be slippery when it is wet. According to signs, the trail is 1.7 miles long and takes about 30-40 minutes to walk. It’s open from dawn until dusk. Pets must be on a leash.
Start at the trail sign marked “Welcome to Mayapple Trail. Pond Entrance.”
Clues:
Go left toward the tunnel of trees.
Check out the pond where ‘No fishing’ is allowed.
Continue on the path over the little wooden bridge.
Cross the zigzag wooden path.
At the fork, continue towards the Woodridge Entrance.
Take a break at the bench if you’d like.
Cross another zigzag wooden path.
Continue past the wooden bench.
Go through the tunnel of trees.
Be careful and look both ways before crossing the road.
Once over the road, go about 17 paces. (2 steps = 1 pace)
On the right are 2 Ash trees which make an X to mark the spot.
At the base of the larger tree is a hole where you will find the letterbox. Please be discrete. Cover with sticks and leaves when replacing the box.
Continue on the path through the meadow and past the pond.
Next, you’ll pass a larger pond on your left.
Continue on the path, staying towards the right.
Carefully cross the road and return to the parking lot.
