Box Locations:

Part I:
BOXES 1–6: Penllyn Park Trail & Penllyn Woods Trail (takes about 1 ½ - 2 hours). Begin at Penllyn Park, 400 Gwynedd Ave., Lower Gwynedd. Start near the playground.

Part II:
BOXES 7-9: Green Ribbon Trail (takes about 45 minutes). If you want to do only this part, begin at Penllyn Woods Park, 1125 Township Line Rd, Lower Gwynedd. Park near the clubhouse and follow directions below for Boxes 7 - 9.

Both of these parks are adjacent to each other, so you won't be far no matter where you choose to park.

======================================
Box # 1
Begin at Penllyn Park, near the playground.
Follow the path as it winds through the park, and it soon takes you into the trees.
Stop at the bridge for a minute as you enter the “woods.”
Beneath you lie peaceful waters, and the first box on your journey. It’s easy enough to find and there’s no need to fight weeds or branches to get to it!
==================================
Box # 2
Cross the bridge and walk toward the patriotic sign in the sky.
When you come to 3 Choices, take the road less paved [go right] that starts between 2 wooden sentries.
Shortly, you’ll enter the “forest.”
Down the path a bit, take a seat and listen to the birds.
Not much farther on you will find a tree on the right. It seems to have split, to reach in 3 directions skyward. It may be a bit prickly around this tree.
Leave the woods and you will have missed it. But see it, and you will find the second box.
==================================
Box #3
Now you may leave the woods, and stroll down the white gravel path.
Enjoy the sunlight, and perhaps the sudden appearance of a train on your right!
If you arrive at another bench, though, you have gone too far.
Just before that bench, take the road less traveled, on the right. The train tracks parallel it. Hopefully, no train will disturb your peace.
Look for another sentry to appear on the left, this one sprayed in green.
After you see it, turn left as soon as you see a path (is that really a path??) – which is even less well traveled than the one you are on. Beware! Poison ivy may lurk here.
If you walk about 28 steps down this little so-called path, through the branches that try to stop you, you will see the skeletal spine of an animal on the ground before you -- unless it has gotten up and walked away. Do not go past it!
Instead, look to the right.
You will see a log, a fallen tree
Therein lies Box #3. Don’t linger long here. Return to the path and continue on.
==================================
Box #4
Once again, emerge into sunlight! And yet another bench! And yet another sports field! Do you need a rest? Go ahead, but you will find no box here.
When you are ready, walk away from the Railroad tracks, down the path, and through the gravel parking lot.
Follow the gravel drive, but please – no parking by the fence on the left! What’s that behind the fence – an old tree stump? It may be a bit prickly, but if you can get there, you will find Box #4.
==================================
Box #5
Now walk on toward the next ball field. (How many teams does this town have?)
Get off the gravel and take the break in the fence that you see on the left.
Into the woods again for a minute now!
Do you see that little wooden bridge? Cross it, and look left for the tree with many branches reading toward the sky. This one hides a box, too. It won’t be hard to find, but don’t slip down into the creek as you reach for it!
==================================
Box #6
You emerge from the “woods.”
What’s this? Picnic tables? A clubhouse? But don’t stop yet, there is one more box nearby!
Behind the clubhouse lies another trail, but unlike any you’ve seen until now. For instead of paved or graveled, it’s a boardwalk! No, you are not down the Shore.
Look for the boardwalk that takes you into the woods and spins you in a circle.
This box is under a bench, but which one?
Not the one you see ahead…but count that as the first.
If you walk clockwise, you will find it beneath the second bench; if you walk counterclockwise, then the first. Don’t be confused! It’s all the same bench! Enjoy the peace and quiet.
==================================

If you would like to get back to Penllyn Park, find the flag and you'll also see the bridge you first crossed over. That way lies Penllyn Park.

But if you are up for finding two more boxes, Boxes #7 - #9 are on the GREEN RIBBON TRAIL.

So if you choose to continue from Box #6, LEAVE THE CLUBHOUSE area, and simply walk from the flag circle, following the one-way sign down the road, to the right, and the adventure continues!

As you walk down the road (Township Line Road, by the way), you will soon see a horse trail sign on the right. Once you pass it, begin to count the telephone poles on the right.

One…Two…Three. At the third pole, walk onto the grass behind the fence. Follow the wide open way that cuts through the trees. (Well, it’s wide open if no tree has fallen to block it – but you never know around this place).
Enjoy the birdsong and watch out for mud!

Pass 2 metal markers for manhole covers. When you arrive at the third marker, turn RIGHT onto the gravel trail.

Next, go LEFT at the Green Ribbon Trail marker and enter the woods. (If you find yourself walking past a little white pump house instead of into the woods, you have gone too far. Turn back!). Fair warning: depending on the season, you may have to cross running creeks.

==================================

Box # 7
You have entered the woods. Now pass the (dried-up? flowing?) creek . It’s very peaceful here – stop and enjoy the quiet by the fallen tree that has made itself into a log, on your right. Behind this, a triple tree guards the 7th box.
==================================

Box # 8
Walk on. Enjoy the sound of water on your right. Cross a series of little boardwalks. The creek comes into view. A little farther down – one more boardwalk! Horses may turn right to go across the water, but you must go straight and follow the Green Ribbon Trail.
A tree on your right is painted green. Go RIGHT to the water’s edge and find another horse trail sign on a tree. Beneath that lies Box #8.
==================================

Box # 9
Continue down the Green Ribbon Trail, through the woods. Pass Mile Marker 5. Just before you leave the woods, at the last Green Ribbon Trail sign, look around. A big old tree stands by the water and guards the final box.

======================================

After you have found boxes #7 - #9:

You emerge from the woods! If you want to return to your car at Penllyn Park, you can do one of the following:

Turn right and walk down Township Line Road, then turn left onto Gwynedd Avenue and walk a few blocks back to Pennlyn Park.

OR

Turn left and walk up Township Line Road to the flag in the circle. Then go right, back across the bridge to Penllyn Park.

Whichever way you prefer, it’s about the same distance.

If there are any problems with my boxes before my next check please let me know.
