Liam had a wonderful day at the park with his parents, aunts and uncles and grandparents. It was so exciting to watch the fish swim by in the river, to fly a kite with dad and to eat lots of Aunt Anya's and Grandma's picnic delights! What a day!

As mom tucked Liam into his carseat and began to close the door, Liam realized that a terrible thing had happened. His favorite toy- a lizard he had named after his youngest uncle, Jeremiah- wasn't in its usual place! He always kept Jeremiah in his coat pocket! And Jeremiah was nowhere to be found, even in Liam's pant pockets or on the floor of the car!

Liam cried until his parents, Don and Sandy, realized what was wrong. Where would they begin to look? They had run all around the park that day.

So they started from the beginning. After reparking the car in a spot close to the river, Liam led his parents to the playground. He looked under the seesaw and climbed through the tunnel slide, but no Jeremiah. What about near the telescope?

Next, Liam went to check out the firepit nearest to the swings, because he remembered that he had gone to the family who was grilling burgers for lunch to meet their little boy, Marcus, who had a cool toy train.

Then he remembered that he had gone to the northwest corner corner of the park. Uncle Roger's dog, Nickel, had run after a butterfly after wrestling with Liam. Liam had run with Nickel, wanting to make sure that no harm came to the butterfly (or to Nickel). After going about 100 yards in the northwest direction, Nickel had gotten distracted by the cars passing over the bridge. Liam remembered that while Nickel stood at the bottom of the small hill, barking at the cars, Liam had wanted to hear the thundering of the cars overhead and had ventured underneath the bridge with Jeremiah! Liam and Jeremiah sat under the bridge for a long time, listening to the cars, looking down into the water and poking through the nearby bushes and under rocks. They had wanted to meet some live lizards!

With this in mind, Liam led his parents, Don and Sandy, to the bridge. Together, they walked under the bridge over a cascade of rocks. Looking under a few rocks, particularly the ones closest of the bridge wall, Liam finally found the greatest treasure of all! He let his dad carry him back to the car. With Jeremiah safe in his coat pocket, Liam was so tired from the day's adventure that he fell promptly asleep.

It had been a great day after all.
