Chicken Soup for the Soul Day is the 11th of November. According to the creators of the book by the same name, this day was created as a "celebration of who you are, where you've been, where you're going, and who you will be thankful to when you get there!" So take this day as a day to celebrate the value and healing of chicken soup, especially mom's chicken soup. Chicken soup has long been seen as remedial for colds, flus, and just about anything that ails you. (My own brother-in-law, a highly acclaimed neo-natologist, gave his ailing children chicken soup!) You can't find that healing in a can; you can only find it in mom's homemade chicken soup.

To get a whiff of homemade chicken soup, head to Champion Park in Cedar Park. From the intersection of Parmar and Brushy Creek head east on Brushy Creek for about 1 mile. The park is on the right. Leave your car and head toward the bathrooms. Stop for a chin up or two as you pass through the exercise area, then head toward the Emergency bench. Keep going until you connect with the Champion Park Regional hike and bike trail.

Turn left and head toward the flagpole, which may or may not be flying a flag. A few paces off the trail on the left you will come to the Champion Cemetery. Very interesting! Once you read the historical plaque and paid your respects, get back on the trail by the welcoming bricks. From the brick welcome continue east on the trail for 130 steps. This should take you to Silver Bluestem on the left side of the track.

Turn around and go back 11 steps. Right turn and 16 steps into the trees will take you between several cedar trees, two on the right and lots on the left. On your immediate left is a clump of 3 cedars. Chicken Soup lies between the two trees farther from the trail. Under rocks and pine needles.

Please hide again and cover with rocks and needles. And enjoy chicken soup tonight for supper!
