Willow Waterhole began as a flood control measure in SW Houston's Westbury neighborhood. It has become a habitat for wetland wildlife. It encompasses a series of wet-bottom detention lakes and greenspace within a 280-acre park. Enter the park along Ricecrest St. between S. Willow Dr. and Gasmer Dr. Park near a trash can/water fountain/bench. Walk towards a kiosk. You will see a large oak tree at the center of a circle of granite boulders. Stand facing the informational signs for the Jack Rafferty Gathering Area. To your right, between the ring and the street is a multi-trunked tree with two hollows. The letterbox is in the upper one beneath loose bark.
