Alive and well as of 12/31/15
There's an old saying among musicians: play the wrong note once, it's a mistake, twice it's jazz. I planted an impromptu box last week, but after looking at a satellite photo of the location, I realized I needed to plant another.
Heading west on the 210, exit at La Crescenta Ave, make a quick double-right onto Altura Ave and park on the street just after Rosemont. Look through the fence at yet another overpass to nowhere. What's going on here?
Now, take a closer look beyond the railing on the opposite side and what do you see? Double-back and head left on Rosemont, then left on Fairway and park. Find the plaque at the corner, read the story, and realize that not only are these not the results of "poor planning" but were actually a well thought out plan to prevent repeating a tragedy.
Directly right of the plaque, at the base of the plants, is a chunk of concrete covering the box. Thanks to lost sailor for his help planting.
When you're finished, make sure the logbook is sealed in the bag.
