One of Iraan's most famous residents was V.T. Hamlin, the creator of the comic strip Alley Oop. Originally from Iowa, he worked in Iraan during the oil boom period of the late 1920s, and either got the idea for the strip or created its earliest drafts there; the strip was first published in 1932 in Des Moines. A park in Iraan is named after the strip.
The City Park is past Alley Oop Fantasy Land. Enter the park and go right around the outside perimeter. Stay to the outside don't take an inner street. At the first picnic table at the ballfield, stop and park. Don't attempt during baseball season! Note the light pole near center field. Walk past it. There will be an island of shrubs/trees. Circle to the backside away from the light pole to the cedar bush/tree. The box is under rocks and a metal grate under this cedar. Please re-hide well.
