"So, what did you do this weekend?" my co-worker asked.
"I drove around the Muskegon Wastewater Facility!" was my excited reply.
The look on his face: PRICELESS!
you-tou-can collect an assortment of responses from your friends and family!

The Wastewater Facility is 11,000 acres of varied habitats that attract a huge variety of birds and waterfowl. Ducks, geese, hawks, terns, gulls, apparently some type of pelican - AND! you can even find a toucan! So bring your binoculars and your bird book with you. But leave the bread at home. This ain't no city park!!

For some reason there are two addresses given: 698 N. Maple Island Rd. and 8301 White Rd.
From Apple Ave. take Maple Island Rd. North approximately 2.2 miles to White Rd. Turn Right. There is a big sign with both numbers on it. Drive a mile or so on White Rd. then veer right toward Administration Building. (there's a sign) You can check in there and get a window sticker if you plan to drive around. It is pretty cool to do so, albeit a bit stinky in some places! :) You can just drive around the facility for bird watching. A short, easy walk on grass/mulchy path for letterbox. Probably 30 minutes 'round trip at a determined pace, we were curiously dawdling.

FOR THE LETTERBOX: Park in lot at Administration Building. WALK West past mailbox on right to mowed grass path on left. Follow that past a yellow post on left. Turn right at bluebird house, follow path into woods. Your nose knows you're headed in the right direction. Follow the log lined path, a log arrow points the way. A 'bench'mark on left a good place to stamp. A sharp right turn in the trail around a 12' stump. 2 or 3 steps beyond that, turn right, over a log and under an arch. Let the lichen light the way along the top portion of the stump. Find the letterbaggy on the back side of the log covered with sticks.

As always, please be sure to re-seal and re-hide well as this was a road trip for bird watching wanderers. Also, please comment on your experience when you log your find. WE enjoyed a great day! Hope you-doo-too!
