Planted by: Marissa Moon and her dad, MoonPop, on 9/8/13
Active as of: 4/25/15

Meet Turtle, our very first (and only) Hitchhiker letterbox!! In just a sec, I'm gonna turn it over right away to the actual Turtle, so he can tell you all about himself and the rules for moving him. But first, I just have to put in a note about how pumped I am to have a Hitchhiker. My hope is that Turtle will serve as a unifying factor to our network of letterboxes throughout Bellevue and Redmond, and beyond that, to expose more people to more great nature spots! Just don't loose him - more about that in a second, and I'm totally serious. Over to you, Turtle! :)

Hi everyone! I'm Turtle, a Hitchhiker letterbox. Hitchhikers are moved from letterbox to letterbox, getting exposed to a variety of different locations and people. However, sometimes our creators set guidelines as to how we're allowed to move. I have three points to share with you, all of them equally important. So, let's dive right in!

1) I am ONLY ONLY ONLY allowed to travel to other letterboxes planted by Marissa Moon. I don't think she'd be at all happy if you did... Like, really not happy...

Anyhow, also, you should know that there is often a specified time limit to how long a Hitchhiker can be in transit with a letterboxer before they must have reached their next destination.

2) I can only be in transit for ONE WEEK. Marissa Moon's preference, actually, is one day. But officially, it's one week.

Okay, this last is more of a Marissa Moon rule, and she requires that you follow it. I know I said at the start that all the rules are important, but I think this might be extra important...

3) If you move me, you MUST send Marissa Moon a message via letterboxing.org IMMEDIATELY so she knows where I am. She needs to record my current location and make sure I'm in good shape. I wouldn't want to get lost! Within the message, Marissa Moon needs to know where you found me and to which of her letterboxes you're taking me. She would also love to know if I'm in good shape, and if you had fun! Otherwise, if you aren't going to send a message, DO NOT move me! I repeat, so it's super-duper clear, If you do not want to send her a quick message, DON'T MOVE ME!!!

Right then, now that I've satisfied Marissa Moon and told you all the guidelines (I know, they get old after awhile don't they? :P But they're STILL super important!!), I'll go ahead and tell you a little about myself and more specifically, what to do when you find me.

- I am a small, round, plastic Tupperware container. I have one plastic baggie smashed inside me, which conains lots of important things. There are two folded notecards, one blue and one yellow, my turtle stamp (:D!!), and some rubber bands.

- Firstly, Marissa Moon recommends printing this sheet out and taking it with you, if I am the first Hitchhiker you've met. :)

- When you find me, make sure you read the blue notecard first, front and back. Marissa Moon wrote it to make sure no one made any mistakes when transfering me - she also listed some ideas of other places I could visit! :)

- Once you've read that, make sure you stamp my yellow notecard with your personal stamp! :) I'm too small for an actual logbook, so I just have the notecard. Oh, and we want you to stamp me whether or not you move me - I love to collect stamps. :)

- Then, take my turtle stamp and stamp your booklet!

- If you're not taking me with you, put me back the way I was. :)

- If you ARE taking me with you, make sure you have all my rubber bands and then take me to another Marissa Moon letterbox within the one week period. You might have to use those rubber bands to secure me. There should be 4 total at your disposal to use. Secure me well to the existing letterbox!

- Then, send that all-important message to Marissa Moon!

And you're done! Hope to see you soon!

Turtle, HH
