BACKSTORY
As a kid, I use to come to this area every summer for vacation...swimming, fishing, biking, hiking, and boating!!! Fast-forward some 30 years later and now I find myself bring my 6-year old daughter to the very same area to do the very same things. In fact, when we were out walking the other day she was drawn to the very same creek that I played in as a kid; in fact she insisted we hike up it much the same way I did 30 years ago. So in honor of this spot that brought joy to both me and my daughter, we decided to plan this box.

CLUES
Before you start out for this one, make sure you have clothing/footwear that can handle a little water from the creek you'll need to walk up. Also, you may want a flashlight if you don't like the dark (there may be a small tunnel you have to walk through)!

Find East Lake Rd (just outside of Penn Yan) along Keuka Lake.

The box can be found a ways down the road from the Viking Resort; if you stand on East Lake facing the hotel built into the hill, you would turn to your right and go down the road.

Down the road you will come to the Lake Keuka Baptist Church on your right (I hear there is an awesome stamp hidden someplace around here that you may want to check out). You can probably park in the grass to the left of the church or across the road to complete you search for our box (and also stamp in to the Lakeside Psalm box).

If you are facing the church, walk down the road to your left (South/Southwest).

Once you come to a small bridge that crosses a small creek, cross the bridge and immediately turn left and climb down to the creek bed.

Walk up the creek bed away from the lake. If we have not had too much rain, it should not be too wet.

Once you come to the tunnel get out that flashlight and walk through it (under the road overhead).

Once you come out the other side, scamper up a few steps on your right and you will see a small tree that makes a V.

Below this tree and slightly to the left are some tree roots. Wedged under the roots and covered by shale rock is the box you seek.

Please re-wedge the box back in there, anchor it down with a rock and cover it back up with the shale rock. The area gets a surprising amount of traffic!

If you feel adventurous keep going up the creek, it's a pretty cool place but be careful of the slippery rocks!!!
