Difficulty: Moderate
Distance to Letterbox: About 6 miles round trip
Great hike near Aspen I strongly recommend. Box is no at the end at the lake, but near the end (was snowing at lake, so came down lower to place).
Directions:
Drive 1/2 mile west of Aspen on Highway 82 to the roundabout. Go around the roundabout and turn right onto Castle Creek Road. Drive 12.2 miles and turn right (shortly after passing Ashcroft) onto a gravel road, driving 1/2 mile to the trailhead. A high clearance vehicle is recommended for the last part of the drive.
To the Letterbox:
Hike up the trail past the last major climb until you reach the trail junction for Electric Pass. Go opposite of the sign across the mail trail to 3 large trees on the downhill side. Go to left side middle and see pile of rocks. Box is under that rock pile. Please make sure box is covered, and rocks are secure.
