Karen’s Box- Available Tuesday- Sat, on Tuesday- Friday, 11-6pm Saturday 11-4pm
1.Drive Route 250 West of Staunton Virginia to the town of Churchville. (about 10 miles)Churchville was a famous town during the time of the Civil War. W. Taylor Reveley III, 27th President of the College of William and Mary was born in Churchville.Hanger Mill was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.[4]
2. Before you reach Churchville cross small bridge- turn immediately right at CESTARI Road -The Big Red Barn at Karen’s Emporium and Boutique.
3. Go through the grey farm gate- park the car in the rear of the long red building –
4. Walk zig zag up the hill to the door of the Big Red Barn, stop…..
Sing Ba Ba Black Sheep have you any wool song! If the Wool shop at the barn is open go in and get a free temporary tattoo of a lamb or sheep etc. Enjoy looking around at the yarn.
5. Go back outside of the Barn stand with your back to the door of the barn.
6. Look at down at the large wooden Corn Crib structure and the cornfield- corn is high in the summer - far out in the field, there are the remnants of an old slave quarters. Can’t see when corn is high.
7. Return back down the hill marching like a soldier. Then skip around to the front of the long red building- Karen’s store- When you see the very long sign hooked on the front of the building that says Karen’s Emporium and Boutique—Make a new word using the letters in the sign- write your secret password down and enter the store at the front door! Say hi to store keeper- hopefully Miss Karen! Tell her your secret password and
