Gull Pond Letterbox

This is an easy hike to a stunning wilderness pond.

Box #1

After signing in at the register, walk 20 adult paces forward down the trail. Turn 90degrees left, and walk 22 steps in that direction. You will see a huge tree stump. Look behind the stump. Box #1 is under some pieces of bark, on the ground.

Box #2

Continue walking on the trail until you see an obvious boulder in the middle of the trail. Look straight up and you will see a U shaped fork high in the tree on your right. This tells you that you are on the right track! Soon you will be on a rocky section of the trail..

Walk along the path, until you see four gullies where water flows across the path. The fourth one is a small stream. At this stream turn to your right and walk 17 paces to another dead stump. Box #2 is hidden behind that stump, under some sticks and dirt.

Box #3

Continue on the trail until you see the log bridge crossing the next stream. Be careful: when it rains, the bridge is slippery! Walk over the bridge and stop on the other side, as soon as you step on the ground again. Walk 20 steps forward from the bridge, and look to the left. You will see a tree where the side of the bottom of the trunk is sat on a rock. Look under it, and you will see Box #3.

Box #4

Turn right off the trail and walk about 25 paces until you see large boulders on your left. The box is on the far side of the boulders.

EITHER ...
walk up over the large boulder then scramble down the rock ledges on the other side (Slippery when wet)
OR...
go round the boulders keeping them to your right then downhill past a rock face on your right. Continue to follow the boulders around to the right through the trees.

You will see an obvious large cleft in the rock. There you will find Box 4.

Remember to sign your name in the notebook, and take a sticker! Also, please rehide the boxes well.

I hope you enjoyed this hike! If you go to the end of the dirt, there is a rock face, if you continue down it, you will find a rock ledge. Its fun to sit, or fish on.
