Leo the Letterbox Hybrid can be found in the Broad Cove Conservatiion Area,. Parking can be found on Route 138 (County Street) at the Somerset/Dighton town line. Park in the lot and take the trail marked by 2 boulders into the woods.
There used to be a letterbox here called Leo the Letterbox. Across the trail from it was a geocache. Leo was archived, but left behind. While checking on our geocache, we decided to resurrect Leo because the stamp was so cool and combine him with the geocache to form a hybrid cache, thus Leo the Letterbox Hybrid.
Follow the white trail markers through the woods. The trail is very overgrown and has several downed trees blocking it. Head towards the water to pick up the trail again. The conservation ares isn't large and the area near the box is pretty open, so if shouldn't be hard to find the trail again.
Look for a large puddingstone rock on the right side of the trail before you get to the water. Now look for a triple trunked birch in front of the boulder.
Behind this birch tucked under the north face of the boulder and under a flat rock Leo sleeps.
UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE
The town has finally cleared the trails again so you can make a nice loop and check out the view in a new clearing The area may be wet if there have been recent storms. AND the triple birch is now a single one.
Please stamp and sign the letterbox portion as this box is also a geocache. Replace as described and cover any visible edges with leaf litter. Thanks for finding Leo the Letterbox Hybrid!
