Gilson Road Cemetery (Bug Spray!!)

Heading North on Rt. 3, exit at 5W for NH-111/New Hampshire 111A toward Pepperell Ma. Turn left onto Main Dunstable Rd. Turn right onto Gilson Rd. Cemetery is on the right – there is parking on the road on the left. You can turn around right across from the cemetery in Tanglewood Estates

Gilson Road cemetery is said to be haunted, it is a quaint little cemetery with no more than 30 plots, the earliest seems to be from 1798 when Mr. Leonard Fisk was interred there. His stone is partially buried as it has settled into the ground above his final resting place.

We’ll start our search as we cross the road and walk past the heavy iron gates.

Walk along the top of the hill, along the stone wall, note the graves and the gifts that are left for the spirits that reside there, cars for the children to play with, pennies, and miniature rubber duckies adorn many of the stones.

You will come to three large rocks just after past the three Gilson babies. In front of the rocks is the head stone of Walter Gilson, which has a small circular hole cut into it. I’ve heard many stories about this hole, from this being used for exorcism to the stone having been carved from a roof shingle. How it got there, I haven’t a clue!

Walk a little further and you will find Mrs. Robinson spending her final resting days under a beautiful willow tree. Gaze down the hill past Mrs. Robinson and then walk towards your 10 o’clock. You will come to a place where the stones part and you can pass to the other side. Now, it is said that people hear Native Americans in these woods, still in battle after so many years, so you won’t have to venture too far out!

Do an about face to your left and look back at the wall, note the tree leaning low over the wall and walk just past that tree, but don’t pass the next as you will have gone too far.

The End is located in the wall!
Please be courteous and discreet and rehide box well when done. Thank you=)
