Walking the labyrinth has been a method of calming the mind and body for humans for thousands of years. The information with this labyrinth states that the earliest known labyrinth in North America was found in New Mexico and is 3500 years old.
To find this exquisite labyrinth and the box that is found there, park at the parking lot for Sycamore Mineral Springs and walk across Avila Beach Dr. at the entrance to the parking lot. Follow the signs to the labyrinth. Behind the sign indicating the entrance of the labyrinth, there is a tree with 6 trunks. Under the leaf litter in its crotch is the labyrinth stamp.
We walked this labyrinth twice this week as well as soaking in the tubs at the springs. (a very affordable treat, cheaper during the week and during the day). We recommend the opportunity to slow down that this lovely spot affords.
I got a message that the whole area where the labyrinth is has been closed. I would appreciate someone investigating if the letterbox is still there.
