This letterbox is part of the 2013 Roads to Freedom program, and is available from June 1, 2013 – September 2, 2013. To participate in the full program, please pick up your free Civil War Journal (program guide) from any Adams County Library or at the Historic Train Station in downtown Gettysburg.

This letterbox is located may be accessed from the Seminary Ridge parking area at Gettysburg National Military Park. It is 0.80 miles in distance and is rated "easy" by Roads to Freedom standards.

NOTE: Due to the high volume of people and traffic anticipated in Gettysburg National Military Park, it is recommended that you use available shuttle services. Please use designated parking areas.

- Park in the small parking lot at Pitzer Woods (Auto Tour Stop 6) near the park amphitheater on West Confederate Avenue.
- From this parking area, locate and walk to the General Longstreet Monument.
- Walk south, on the grass and off the side of the road, to the intersection of West Confederate Avenue and Millerstown/Wheatfield Road.
- Carefully cross this intersection. You should notice a place where you can get a great birds-eye view of the park.
- If you climb the tower, please use the handrails going both up and down and, once at the top, keep both feet firmly planted on the platform floor.
- Near the base of the tower, you will find a wayside exhibit titled President Eisenhower’s Farm. You should have a great view of the house and farm of our 34th president from there.
- The post you seek should be located nearby.
- Return to your vehicle by retracing your steps to the parking area.
