This box is hidden outside a public building; it’s a modern building whose front is mostly glass. There are lots of books in it (and movies and music, too!)

The letterbox's name refers to one of the best-loved and most critically acclaimed children's books ever written: the story of Wilbur the pig and his best friend, a spider named Charlotte.

Clues: the author of this famous book has a color for a last name; that color is part of your next clue. The second part is the color of the sculpture in front of this building. GO TO THE PARKING LOT, and look for a rectangular sign with those two colors; the sign has four words on it. Next to the sign is a large bush that will never be bare. The box is hidden on the ground under the bush. Make sure no one sees you take it.

FYI: The stamp in this box is a well-known illustration from this book; it was drawn by a terrific artist named Garth Williams. Williams illustrated several Golden books and lots of picture books by Margaret Wise Brown, like Home for a Bunny, The Friendly Book and Sailor Dog. He also illustrated many classic children’s novels, such as Stuart Little, A Cricket in Times Square by George Selden, all the Little House books by Laura Ingalls Wilder and the Miss Bianca books (aka The Rescuers) by Margery Sharp.

Some more fun facts:
1. There are two movies based on this book, an animated one and a live-action one.
2. The author of the book was born and spent his childhood in Mount Vernon, only 20 miles away.
3. About this book, the author said, ““I had been watching a big grey spider at her work and was impressed by how clever she was at weaving. Gradually I worked the spider into the story that you know, a story of friendship and salvation on a farm.”
4. He was a contributor to The New Yorker magazine and a co-author of the English language style guide, The Elements of Style, which is commonly known as "Strunk & _____". For a great book about this author, be sure to read “Some Writer: The Story of E. B. _____” by Melissa Sweet.

Please be discreet while stamping up, bring your own stamp pad, and please re-hide well. Thanks!
