(Archived pending required registration with Montgomery Parks Dept)

Note:1-02-2007
This one has been missing for two years. Just replaced it.
New stamp. New clues. New location.

I thought I would show you another section of Green Lane Park. To get to this box, take route 29 north out of Green Lane a short distance. Turn left onto Park Rd and then right on to Hill Rd. Take this until you see signs for Green Lane Reservoir. Follow the drive and park in the lot.

Difficulty: Fairly flat trail. Some rocks and roots.
Little bit of a climb to reach the box.
Very minimal compass skills are required.
Note: a pace is two steps. i.e. Count a pace every time you step on your right foot.

Look for the trailhead for Whitetail Trail.
Follow the trail for some time. You will pass several picnic tables.
At the bottom of the hill, check out the woodpecker tree.
Cross the small stream and continue on the main trail.
Keep going. Cross another small stream. Small bridge.

The main trail begins to head up. Look for a trail that turns to the right. (Over some roots). You should see a blue blaze shortly. Youe will be following the water (on your right. Continue on this train (~1/4 mile) past severla more blue blazes. When you reach a fairly steep rocky creek crossing, stop.

Look behind you up the hill (~140 degrees).
You will see a long dead tree down. Head for the roots.
It's a little steep. On the far side about 4 feet from the roots, I saw a little lady bug. Bet she's still there.

Please be discrete when stamping and replacing the box since this is a popular hiking area.

Retrace your steps to get back to your car.

Please email us to let us know you found it! trainear@comcast.net
Hope you had fun.
