Since my four year old granddaughter, Nona, and I have been having fun finding letterboxes for the past months we thought is was about time to make one of our own. We made this one 'kid friendly' since those are the ones we like to look for together.

When you come in the long driveway park in the first lot to the right. Walk over to the sign that shows the trail map. You will be walking mostly on the easy inner trail at Wadsworth Mansion and it should take you right around an hour if you take the time to enjoy the place.

Start by crossing the driveway and going down the wide tree lined path known as White Oak Lane. Notice the stone walls on each side of the path. After you see them both curve in you will come to a sign explaining the three steps you see going up the wall. Now turn around and find the three steps on the other wall. Climb up them and down the three on the other side. Squat down to the left of the steps and at ground level behind a small loose flat rock you will find 'Peace'.

Climb back over the wall and continue down the path. Soon you will make a right turn and follow a wide path with informational signs. Next you will come upon a pond with a gravel path on each side. Don't take the first one - go down the one that leads you over the bridge. On your right you will see a smallish three sister tree and then a group of three rocks. At this point look to your left. Off the trail a little way is a large tree with a stump in front of it. Behind the tree under some leaves and logs is 'Love'.

Back on the trail now, you will take a left hand turn to go toward the back lawn. As you cross the lawn go toward the back of the parking lot and pick up the blue trail. When you go around the stone wall continue down the hill, don't follow the path along the wall. You will be walking on the path that goes along next to Laurel Grove Road. Follow this trail until you see the archway ahead on your left. There is a stone wall leading away from the archway and as it breaks down there is a large blue blazed tree (this is about 15 steps BEFORE you get to the arch). Behind that tree, tucked inside and covered by rocks you will find 'Happiness'. Because we made the box together with small children in mind, Nona strung some charms together for the first few finders. Help yourself to one if they are still there.
Please be discreet since you are in full view of anyone traveling along the road. And hide the box well when you are done!
