This letterbox is part of the GO and Dig It Up! program. It will be available from June 1, 2013 - August 18, 2013. Further details about the program may be found at www.goyork.org.

GO and Dig It Up! uses "garden plots" – wooden posts with engraved plates on them – instead of a traditional letterbox and stamp. Please carefully rub the impression from the engraved plate into the program Gardener's Journal, available at any York County library.

The letterbox is located at Richard M. Nixon County Park. GO York level of difficulty = Moderate

- Start at the Nature Center. Take the wooden boardwalk down to the lower parking lot.
- At the bottom, turn right down the small gravel hill. Turn left and cross the bridge over the stream.
- Stop at the pond. Look and listen. Do you hear or see any frogs or turtles?
- Continue on the trail with the pond on your right and the stream on your left.
- Just past the upper pond follow the old field trail to the left following the stream.
- Cross over the bridge with red edges.
- Stop, look and listen to the stream. What do you hear and see?
- Continue on this trail around the bend. At the intersection, turn left.
- Follow the trail along the creek going up a gentle hill.
- Notice the line of Osage orange trees. These trees were planted here long ago as a hedge row to mark property boundaries.
- Head up the hill keeping the Osage orange trees on your right side.
- Near the top of the hill turn right into the field through the clearing in the hedge row. Continue on the trail to the post.
- After the post, follow the signs back to the Nature Center, heading to the right. As you walk through the field look for butterflies, bees, birds, praying mantis egg cases and insect galls.
- Continue on the trail back into the forest. Stop, look, and listen. Compare the forest sights and sounds with the field, stream, and pond.
- At the T make a right and head downhill. When you reach the bottom of the hill, follow the trail keeping the stream on your right.
- Cross over the bridge with red edges and continue back to the Nature Center.
