This letterbox is part of the GO and Dig It Up! program. It will be available from June 1, 2013 - August 18, 2013. Further details about the program may be found at www.goyork.org.
GO and Dig It Up! uses "garden plots" – wooden posts with engraved plates on them – instead of a traditional letterbox and stamp. Please carefully rub the impression from the engraved plate into the program Gardener's Journal, available at any York County library.
The letterbox is located at Gifford Pinchot State Park and may be accessed from Boat Mooring Area #3. GO York level of difficulty = Moderate
- From Boat Mooring Area #3, walk to the gravel-covered trail at the far end of the clearing, beyond the rowing boat racks.
- Take the right fork in the trail heading downhill. Stay on the gravel part of trail.
- At the next intersection, again keep right staying close to the lake’s edge. You might get your feet wet!
- Just before arriving at some big rocks you should notice a small trail on your left. Follow this trail.
- This trail will lead you to more large rocks. Walk to the left of the balanced boulder and head to the long, low rock right at the edge of the water.
- Head to the end of the rock on the right…there you will find the post!
