This letterbox is part of the GO and Dig It Up! program. It will be available from June 1, 2013 - August 18, 2013. Further details about the program may be found at www.goyork.org.
GO and Dig It Up! uses "garden plots" – wooden posts with engraved plates on them – instead of a traditional letterbox and stamp. Please carefully rub the impression from the engraved plate into the program Gardener's Journal, available at any York County library.
The letterbox is located at Codorus State Park and may be accessed from teh Classroom Building parking area. GO York level of difficulty = Easy
- Your starting point is the two benches near an eagle interpretation sign and the coin binoculars.
- Check out the eagle nest on the long island. Turn to your right and walk to the water side of the Classroom Building.
- Search for a bench donated by the Hanover Exchange Club.
- With your back to the building, walk down the hill to the edge of the water, can you still see the eagle’s nest?
- At the edge of the water, turn right and follow the shoreline.
- Look for a Frisbee catch net, continuing past it to the lone tree along the water’s edge.
- At the tree turn right, walking up the hill, but continuing to follow the edge of the water.
- Look for another Frisbee catch net.
- Beyond the Frisbee net is a concrete box down at the edge of the water.
- There you will find your rubbing post.
- Return to the parking area by walking up the hill, looking for the Classroom Building.
