This letterbox is part of the GO and Dig It Up! program. It will be available from June 1, 2013 - August 18, 2013. Further details about the program may be found at www.goyork.org.
GO and Dig It Up! uses "garden plots" – wooden posts with engraved plates on them – instead of a traditional letterbox and stamp. Please carefully rub the impression from the engraved plate into the program Gardener's Journal, available at any York County library.
The letterbox is located at Codorus State Park, Mary Ann Furnace Trailhead. GO York level of difficulty = Hard
- Start by crossing the metal “foot traffic” only bridge.
- Follow the trail; this will take you on a raised wooden path.
- Walk across the wooden path and continue following the trail. You may want to check out the bird viewing deck on the left.
- Continue following the trail to the left of the marker. You will cross a small wooden bridge. It is a long walk to the next intersection.
- Once you reach the intersection, you will find your post.
- To return to your car, follow the yellow blazes up the hill. At the trail intersection, continue following the yellow blazes until you come to the blue blazes.
- Turn right at the blue blaze and continue following blue blazes down the hill.
- At the bottom of the hill, turn right and follow the white blazes.
- Cross a wooden bridge and continue up the hill following the white blazes.
- At the next intersection, turn left and continue on the trail back to the parking area.
