One of the rarest birds you will find in Fremont is the Golden Heron, but you won't be able to find them in any refuge or preserve. No, for some reason, this pair of birds decided to roost in a business park. If you'd like to see them for yourself, you should be able to find these Nobel creatures off of Auto Mall Parkway. The best time to view these birds is on the weekends, when there are less people around and less cars in the parking lot. From there, you'll have to go around the hedges to reach the sidewalk and approach the birds by walking alongside the street. You may feel a bit exposed, but if you're spotted and need to hide, you can always duck under the nearest lamp cover. At least that's what we did.

PLEASE NOTE: Because of its name, metallic inks can hardly be discouraged for the "Golden Heron". Please be prepared, and clean the stamp as necessary.

Hike length: 0.1 miles
