Spanish Fans and Los Conejitos

I had visions of senoritas and senoras dressed elegantly, fanning themselves during the Ranchero era of California History!
Welcome to the town of Mission Viejo, just north of the more historically known San Juan Capistrano. Use Google Maps and an on-line English-Spanish translation to help you out.

Note: 2 different colored markers will enhance your 1st find!

BOX 1: FIND THE SPANISH FAN!
1. Start on _____________(means “View of the Lake” ) hint: This street runs into Lake Mission Viejo.
2. A street called ____________(means “noble” or “nobleman”) branches off. Go down this street
3. Look for ________ street (means “fan”). Turn onto this street. When you get to a green open space area, go ahead and park.
4. Walk across the grass until you reach a paved trail. HACIA ARRIBA!
5. Feel those muscles in your legs? Well, you should rest. A LA IZQUIERDA there is a little leveled alcove with TRES ARBOLES straight in a row. Hmmm. Maybe there is something hidden in this area. By the last tree, you will see a stump to its right. Position yourself (moving closer to the street), so that you are lined up with this stump and tree, with a great ARBOL DE PINO directly to your right. Remove the PINO needles at your feet, and under a dark flat rock you should find the TESORO!. Remember to be stealthy and hide the TESORO well again.

Box 2: I WANT TO SEE THE CONEJITOS!
If you walk along this trail early mornings or evenings, you may spot CONEJITOS, especially during Spring and Summer. There is an open space they like to gather. Would you like to check it out?
After you’ve finished with the first box, HACIA ARRIBA! Keep A LA DERECHA, going around the hairpin turn. Enjoy the walk and the view until you come to a landscaped open space. Unfortunately, a little too landscaped to hide the box. Go pass the bench, following the S curve. A LA IZQUIERDA there will be a set of large plants that look like PIñA tops with a single different ARBOL in the middle of them. Mid-way, behind the ARBOL and one of the plants, underneath another dark flat rock, is the TESORO!

Your journey is not quite yet over. You can backtrack your steps, or you can finish the loop by continuing on the path, eventually reaching “View of the Lake” again. Continue walking to “Noble” and “Fan” to get back to your car. You can also take a short cut, and turn down the street before “Fan”. At the end of this street is the start of the walking trail, where the conejitos also like to gather! Just walk up the trail a little to get back to your car.

Walking time/distance (no stopping) from where you park to the Conejitos is 10 min/.4 miles. Total loop is approx. 35 minutes/1.3 miles, all paved.
