This letterbox is situated along the bike path at Taylorsville Dam (part of Montgomery County's Five Rivers MetroParks) in Vandalia.
To get there from I-75, take the National Road exit in Vandalia east. The first park entrance on the right leads down to the dam and some picnic shelters.
From I-70, take the State Route 202 exit south to Taylorsville Rd. (White Castle) Turn right. Look for Bridgewater on the right. Take Bridgewater to the stop sign. Turn left on US 40 and look for the entrance down to the dam and picnic area on the left.
Find the Blue Heron shelter
We did in the summer swelter
Climb the steps and take the path
Past the deck, you're right on task
A sign warns of the trail closing
When weather gives the place a hosing
