Drive or walk to the last playground area and find the Creeden Hill Pavilion. Cross the road and walk to the gates by the woods. Enter the trail and proceed straight up the hill. Pass the light with number 17 on it. Notice the next light also says 17. Continue to the next light and proceed down the hill. Pass the old pavilion on the right. Go past the garbage can (stay on the paved trail). Go to the tree that has writing on it – a heart and the initials JZ + JG. You are on the right path. Walk to the tree that has a hole and a face carved on it (left side of the trail). Go down a ways to a tree of two on the left. Across from there is a pile of big rocks. Look behind these rocks under the little rocks and you will find what you seek.
These clues were written by 2nd grade Brownies as part of their letterboxing badge. This is the first letterbox to be hidden in Shannen Park, one of our favorite places to play.
Please note that the trail is a circle and is approximately a half mile. The trail is paved and accessible in all weather. Enjoy our park and please handle the handcrafted stamp with care!
