SPECIAL THANKS TO DRAGONRIDER FOR REPLACING THE LOG AND CONTAINER

On October 10, 1805 Lewis & Clark entered what is now the state of Washington at the confluence of the Snake and Clearwater Rivers near present-day Clarkston. They proceeded down the Snake to the Columbia River and eventually to the Pacific Ocean in November, passing Horsethief Lake State Park, Beacon Rock State Park and finally Cape Disappointment State Park. A major Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center, devoted to a comprehensive overview of the expedition, is located in the park, along with this microbox.

Directions:
From Portland, Oregon take I5 north to Longview, Washington then SR 4 west to Hwy 101. Then drive south to Long Beach Peninsula and follow signs to Ilwaco and the park. From Seattle, take I5 south to Olympia, SR 8 west to Montesano, then Hwy 101 south to Long Beach Peninsula and follow signs to the park and the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center.

Clues:
Due to landslides you may have to take a shuttle to the parking lot below the Interpretive Center. Once there, follow my original clues: From the west side of the parking lot, find the paved trail that goes up the hill to the Interpretive Center. Follow it about 50 yards to the third light post, where the trail will turn sharply to the left, and there will be a bench to the left of the light post and a large log to its right. Look under the far side of the log near the light post for the microbox hidden under some loose bark. Please re-cover well, then continue on the trail for just a few more feet to visit the Interpretive Center and see the same awesome views Lewis & Clark saw.
