WATERFALLS THIRTY-THREE

DIRECTIONS:

Take Bridgeport Avenue to Nells Rock Road in Shelton. First left will be Buddington Road. Take this left and wind around for at least a mile, passing under the power lines. On your left, you will come upon a clear view of the Renaissance high-rise apartments. Be looking now on your right for Great Oak Road. Take this right, then your next right which is Cathy Dr., then your next left which is Wesley Road. Follow Wesley, and you will cross over the Shelton Lakes Rec Path once. Continue on and you will come upon the Rec Path a second time. Park here.

CLUES:

On the right side of the road, just a little past the granite Rec Path pillars, you will see “white over yellow” blazes in the woods. Enter the woods, climbing the little hill and following the blazes until you come upon the Basil Brook Falls. Because the falls pass under many boulders, they are more musical than moist. But still appealing.

Now, turn around to face the trail that got you to the falls. You will see a two-sister tree with a double set of blazes, directing you to the left. Stand facing this tree, and look past it, left and toward the road. You will see another single-blazed tree. To the right of that tree is a knob of rocks. Facing you, there are three stones piled very clearly on top of one another with the top stone covering the WATERFALLS THIRTY-THREE LETTERBOX like the lid of a clamshell. Stamp in, and then hide very carefully, please.
